A brown putty wound sealant for conifers. Use it to protect fresh pruning cuts and grafts: it forms a barrier that holds moisture in, stops the cambium layer drying out, and keeps out bacteria, fungi and pests. Roll the putty in your fingers and press it over the wound; wetting your fingers makes it easier to apply and helps it seal. The green lid marks the conifer paste. Net weight 190g.

What it is

A putty wound sealant for conifers. Pressed over a fresh pruning cut or graft, it forms a barrier that holds moisture in, stops the cambium layer drying out, and keeps out bacteria, fungi and pests while the wound calluses over.

Green lid or white lid

The green lid marks the conifer paste; this one, for pines, junipers and other resinous trees. For maples, elms and other deciduous trees, use the white-lid deciduous paste. For ordinary pruning cuts, Kiyonal is a thinner paste that spreads straight from the tube; the putty suits larger wounds and grafts where a thicker, longer-lasting cover is wanted.

Using it

Roll a piece of the putty in your fingers and press it over the wound so the edges seal against the bark. Wetting your fingers first makes it easier to work and helps it seal. Leave it in place while the wound calluses; it stays flexible and can be peeled away later.
